Space to think
Focus on the skill in front of you. There is no timer or race to finish, so you can take time to read and think.
A hint helps you find a starting point. If an answer doesn't land, use the explanation to understand the relationship and try again.
In family practice, fresh questions give learners another chance to use a skill. Parent controls manage saved practice and progress.

Ratios · Comparing groups
A bowl has 4 apples and 6 pears. What is the ratio of apples to pears?
The order of the words matters. Count the apples first, then the pears.
The ratio is 4 : 6, or 2 : 3 in simplest form. For every 2 apples, there are 3 pears. A ratio of 4 : 10 would compare apples to all the fruit, which answers a different question.
Fractions · Equal pieces
A ribbon is 3/4 of a metre long. You cut it into pieces that are 1/8 of a metre each. How many pieces do you get?
Write three quarters in eighths. How many eighths fit into each quarter?
You get 6 pieces. One quarter equals two eighths, so three quarters equals six eighths. Dividing 3/4 by 1/8 asks how many one-eighth pieces fit in the ribbon: 3/4 ÷ 1/8 = 6.
